Everything You Need to Know About Central Vacuum Systems

Definition: What exactly is a central vacuum cleaner?

Central vacuum systems are stationary suction units installed outside the living area, for example in the basement or other utility rooms. The central unit is connected via a pipe system to inlet valves distributed throughout the house.

By simply plugging the hose into one of the inlets, you can control the central vacuum as needed. Dirt travels through the pipes into the dust container, while the resulting exhaust air is released outdoors.

While central vacuum systems have been widely used in countries like Canada and the USA for decades, they are now also growing in popularity here as well. A central vacuum system with hose retraction, or even multiple retraction points, is especially practical. The advantage is that the hose automatically retracts after vacuuming and essentially disappears into the wall. This means the hose no longer needs to be manually rolled up and stored away each time. That saves a lot of time and hassle! To make this possible, a vacuum pipe system is installed in which the hose is stored until its next use.
